Gather and Analyse Data

This method is effective to be able to recognize mixtures. The dots of our sheet of paper moves up, which means the solution was a mixture of liquids. After using chromotography, another method such as distilation would need to be used to finally separate the mixture.

Chromatography

Evaporation

The evaporation process took the longest time, but was the most efficient. It took 14.02 minutes to evaporate, after the water reached the boiling point. Only the salt was left stuck to the beaker at the end.

Filtration

We saw no change, even though we filtered it three different times. This means the the filter paper did not retain any particles that were noticible. We all agreed it was the poorest method. It took 1.58 minutes for us to finish.

Sedimentation

At first the water and the soild were mixed, and as we let it sit for a until it the mixture separated. After some time the most of the soil was covering the whole top and the water was onderneath. We needed more time for the experiment to work.
